Abe Hawatmeh, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Hawatmeh is a board-certified urologist, a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, former Chief of Urology at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, and the founder of South County Urological. He is also an assistant (clinical) professor of urology at Saint Louis University.

He received his medical degree from the University of Parma (Italy) and continued his training in the United States where he served a surgical residency at Northwestern University Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and a urology residency at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

While at Saint Louis University, Dr. Hawatmeh was awarded a National Kidney Foundation research fellowship. He later became an assistant professor at the medical school and remained there until he established South County Urological in 1981.

Since then, he has continued to learn new treatment techniques including laser prostate therapy, microwave thermotherapy and cryosurgery. He is recognized as a local expert in the nerve-sparing prostatectomy, penile prostheses (implants) and vasectomy reversals.

Dr. Hawatmeh is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the St. Louis Urological Society, and Physicians Who Care.
