Rezum™ Water Vapor Therapy

Rezum water vapor therapy is a new treatment for men with BPH who no longer want to take medication for an enlarged prostate. It is also an alternative to medication or traditional surgery for an enlarged prostate. 

Rezum is a quick outpatient procedure, which is performed in our office. It uses tiny bursts of steam (water vapor) that target and destroy excess prostate tissue that blocks normal urine flow. 

Some anatomy might help better explain how it works.

The prostate is a gland that surrounds the urethra. The urethra transports urine from the bladder. As men age, their prostate grows and squeezes the urethra, which in turn, blocks normal urine flow. 

Rezum gently vaporizes excess prostate tissue. Symptom improvement is gradual, usually two weeks after the outpatient procedure is performed.

The benefit of Rezum is that a man maintains his ability to have normal ejaculations.
