Taking testosterone with Viagra did not provide more benefit, reports study
Although low testosterone and erectile dysfunction can be related, taking the male hormone with Viagra did not provide additional benefit in a 14-week clinical study of 140 men. All the men took Viagra before sex. One half of the men also received testosterone gel. The other half received a hormone-free placebo gel.
Men in the study reported their frequency of sex, their satisfaction with it, and their ability to achieve and maintain an erection. Both groups had similar scores. On average, the men’s erectile function improved— with or without testosterone. Dr. Matthew Spitzer of Boston University and his colleagues conducted the study, which was published in the November 20th edition of the Annals of Internal Medicine.
